QR Code: Business Cards

QR codes are the buzz about town. They offer an option to connect the real world with the virtual world in a non-traditional way. You do not have to be sitting at home with your PC or searching for a Wifi connection at your local coffee shop to use the technology. You head out to lunch and see a QR code on the menu of the restaurant. All you need to do is take out your smartphone, scan the code and perhaps you will get a recipe for the dish you ordered. Or maybe you will see a promotional code that you can use on your next visit.

QR codes are being found in many venues. On product labeling, in museums, libraries, grocery store, restaurants, and print ads to name a few. Now it is even possible to put a QR code on a business card. Why would you want to do this? INFORMATION! A basic and traditional business card can only hold a small amount of information. They are typically able to hold information in an area that is only 3.5 X 2 inches. A QR code can hold over 7000 characters and when the code directs you to a mobile friendly website much more data can be exchanged.

Traditional business cards show, in print, your average business info. You would include name, address and phone number. Perhaps a photo and the name of your business would appear as well. And then you are out of room. The other problem, I find, with business cards is that I am not organized enough to keep track of these little pieces of information. I lose them or misfile them and the info is not available when I need it. That means that whoever gave me that business card probably wasted their money.

If you have a QR code on your business card and I scan it into my phone the information will be readily available to me whenever I need it. Once I complete the scan your info is digitally stored in my contact list. Imagine that the sky is the limit as far as the information you can make available to me. I can see details about your business/company. I can go to the mobile friendly web site any time I want to. I could be directed to your Facebook fan page or a set of photos that showcase what you do.

The generation of QR codes is easy and it makes a great addition to your business cards. They can be informative, attractive and very useful. Take a few minutes, check out the QR code business card generators online and see if this technology can work for you.
